The Original Gulf Coast Offense: “The Mad Bomber and the RAC Boys”

The year was 1998. Florida A&M coach Billy Joe was looking for a quarterback to run its high-powered Gulf Coast Offense while Pat Bonner was looking for a place to call home after his stint at Temple ended prematurely. After a heated quarterback battle that lasted three games, Bonner came out on top and along with the emergence of “The RAC (Run After Catch) Boys” led the team to a season they are still talking about in Tallahassee as they filled NFL stadiums along with the famed Marching 100. Bonner guides us back to that magical season which set the table for even greater heights the Rattlers would reach in 1999.
